ThinkBIG!’s Artists-in-Schools program brings long-term performing arts experience to youth in schools and child development centers.
Workshop programs are available for those schools wishing to have working artists work with students during 1 or 2 classroom visits. Students learn about the art form and how it relates to classroom curriculum as they work with the Teaching Artists to bring a unit of study to life through the performing arts.
All Classroom Workshop scheduling will be arranged with ThinkBIG! Theater Arts by email within the month prior to the scheduled performance date. All classroom workshops are subject to availability. A travel expense fee may apply to schools outside of Suffolk County.
Partner schools can also request a more extensive series of workshops where the same teaching artist team can work with a group of students and their teacher(s) to deeply explore a unit of study. Learn More >
ThinkBIG!’s Artists-in-Schools helps students with a wide range of complex learning disabilities develop communication, coordination, and social skills. The program serves both inclusion and self contained classes. Participants will learn how to improve their performance level, work in teams, and grow in self - confidence.
Sequential performing arts programming in preschool develops students’ language, cooperation, and ability to recall and reflect. It lays the early groundwork for innovation and creative thinking and contributes to Kindergarten readiness.
